This is where Jason puts his stuff of personal interest.

25Jan Google OS.

After reading the “Human’s guide to running Google OS” I was ready to give it a shot. I downloaded Virtual Box (again) and also downloaded The Virtual Machine from gdgt. After that I loaded it up like and virtual hard drive and logged in with my google creds. I was pleasantly surprised, but certainly underwhelmed. [...]

18Jan Passwords, passwords and more passwords

So you know the saying that you need to have a separate password for each site you access right? Most of us do not. I am as guilty of this as anyone. Why is it so important (and why am I going to change my behavior)? Let’s say China gets into Google’s servers and finds [...]

13Jan Do you use the “Remember my Password” feature of FireFox

FireFox users are a funny bunch. We think that we are more secure, and generally that the Mozilla foundation takes care of us better than Microsoft is willing to. For the most part this is true and what I am about to expose does not dispel that belief at all. Do you use the Remember [...]

11Jan Security – TrueCrypt

I use TrueCrypt to encrypt on of my thumb drives that I store sensitive information on. Why? Because I can and I should. It can be as simple as creating a TrueCrypt volume on a certain drive, which will look like a file or you can encrypt an entire volume. You can also encrypt a [...]

30Dec Why I like DropBox (more) LAN updating!

Drop box just released an update to their utility that allow LAN Syncing. This means when I am on the same network as another computer that I have dropbox installed those computers will sync over the LAN rather than using the Internet and the website. The initial computer that I place a file on will [...]

28Dec Jailbroken again (at 3.1.2)

So I went ahead and jailbroke at 3.1.2. If you are not an iPhone user this means I upgraded to the latest firmware (I was at 3.01) and then jailbroke my phone so that I can install other applications. What is the big deal? Well it isn’t a big deal really since I used blackra1n.com [...]

16Dec Why I am installing XP again.

I have a machine at home that I treat as a “server”. It does all of my torrent downloads, hosts all of my remote desktop sessions, it checks my devry email and forwards it to gmail, as well as converting anything I download to iPhone format. My intention was to make this machine a bit [...]

09Dec Sorting out Amazon Ads

So I have a few sites that use amazon ads for their mains source of revenue. http://rvgadgets.net is one and http://www.kidstoysquad.com is another. Now these sites are starting to pull in some noticeable income it has become apparent that I have not done a good job of using the correct amazon ads code. If you [...]

02Dec Writing an iPhone app for kids? Need a review? I can do it.

So I started a website called http://KidsiPhoneAppReview.com and so far the response has been very good. I have found that there are a lot of developers out there that just need their app to be reviewed. You can pay a few sites to do it — I am told — but I do it for [...]

30Nov Getting starting with your first website

Making Money When I was starting a few of my sites I had the temptation to add pop-ups and link ads and all sorts of stuff to my site to generate revenue. You want to earn as much revenue from your visitors as you can right? Sure. You have costs to pay after all. What [...]

28Nov Kids and Fun

So some kids stuff. I am sitting on the couch with my daughters. Kaylin is playing SpongeBob Square pants and Sound Shaker by Tickle Tap Apps — I have review both at http://kidsiphoneappreview.com. Kristin is playing Kid Zui on her Aspire One. Some simple things we can do with our kids. Earlier today we planted [...]

25May 3 week vacation.

I will be tweeting some photos, but so far we have driven to San antonio Texas. We ate at chicos tacos in el paso, koa’d in Van Horn and visited the Sonoran Caverns. Swimming pool was nice too. About 1000 miles in two days. Fun! Alamo and river walk tomorrow. Perhaps the zoo.

01Apr Gotta love Cydia

Best April fools joke and obscure at that. Saurik, the developer of Cydia has rickrolled everyone who is silly enough to click the cydia announcement that he has sold to MS. Now we all know that is a joke, but the rickroll from 2007 is just worth it.

06Jan AirSharing – where are my files held on the iPhone?

I really wanted to be able to place files on my iPhone using AirSharing, but I am not always on Wifi. I do have my iPhone cable and a laptop as well as diskaid installed, so I can browse the iPhone drive. How can I get files into AirSharin? Well it turns out you can [...]

24Dec The FreeMason iPhone Theme is Published.

I know it isn’t a big deal to install a theme on your iPhone using WinterBoard, but it is cool to actually have one in an official repo. Here is mine (video):
