Stealing from customers? Who would do that?

If you really want to alienate your customer base you could try stealing from them… It is not a new idea mind you:

Look at the names on that report. Buy.com, 1800 flowers.com etc.

You have visited these sites and they have tried to steal from you by offering coupons and the like at the end of your shopping cart experience. If you enter your email the retailer gives this company your CC# and they ding you with a monthly subscription.

Credit Card numbers?

Yeah I usually suggest that a site owner not capture CC# and instead use something like paypal. This seems obvious that you should not capture this information and SHARE it, but I guess that cannot be assumed anymore.

I really think using something like paypal.com has too many benefits to overlook. You really have to drive some real traffic to need a custom CC processing system outside of paypal. The fees associated with paypal are worth it IMO.

What is the point

Do not steal from your customers and be careful of anything that may alienate them. Things like too many ads, ads of the wrong type or even other users that cause a problem should be dealt with immediately.

So you need to prevent spammers from posting to your site? I do that here with a captcha. But I only have one. So I was looking at http://www.recaptcha.com . It is awesome.

I downloaded the DLL for it, put it into the bin of my project, added it to my toolbox and entered my public and private keys and I was off and running.

It is a great custom control – that is what we are talking about this week in my CIS 407 course.

You can check out the end result here:
http://memorialcaretakers.com/frachise.aspx .

Go ahead and email me. It’s cool (but I am going to finish the validation in class – so be sure to enter a valid email before you submit.).
