QuickPwn 2.2

So here is what I went through to jailbreak on 2.2
I was already jailbroken on 2.1, so I wanted to keep all of my cydia apps – not a big deal, but I might as well try! iPhone 3G . I am not interested in a soft unlock in the near future.

1. Download the jailbreak tool QuickPwn from anywhere on the web. The dev team is a good place to start. http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
2. Backed up my cydia (jailbroken) apps using apt backup (not necessary if you arent already jailbroken)
3. Updated via iTunes – Just connect your iPhone and hit update

At this point it displayed some Steve Jobs image with some russian coming out of his mouth – seriously… Then it started to update fine… Interesting.

It restarted without an issue. Except that I had installed categories via Cydia (jailbroken installer) and now anything in a category is missing from my homepages…

Time to Pwn it…

4. Downloaded quickpwn and I am going to run it now.

5. Had to hold the buttons funny and all that…

6. It is running… (really a pineapple running on the screen)

7. New flickr Image: http://www.flickr.com/photos/83343220@N00/3053147188/

8. it restarted… now the pwned pineapple on the screen (instead of the usual apple)…..

9. waited a few… started up iTunes. This sometimes helps it get out of the state of continuous reboots…

10. and categories killed it for me… cannot get to my apps to get ssh back up. This wont be a problem on an OOTB installation…

11. Restored to factory settings (using iTunes – restore).. All is well.

12. Re-run quickPwn (see shots above)

Went faster this time. Rebooted in seconds..

13. All is well. restoring all apps now..
