Taking a Final – some thoughts

I am sitting in my Keller class final (I am the Instructor) and I had some thoughts about how I took a final when I was a student. Here it is. Originally this was an email to my students.
As you all sit and take the final a few thoughts occurred to me that I thought [...]

WhiteBoard Sharing

I felt I needed an app to do whiteboard sharing. This seemed like an easy thing to find, but it took a few days of talking about it before I found one I like:
http://vyew.com/site/
It offers desktop sharing, whiteboarding, teleconferencing – who needs that when you have Skype?
Anyway – I added this post more for [...]

Remember you can learn something from everyone you meet – be greedy.

Being greedy can be good and forgivable. If you think of every single person you meet as someone that can teach you something then be greedy and soak it up.
I meet a lot of people. Some challenge my pride or authority. It happened in class just the other day. My comment was: “You may have [...]

Microsoft Shared View and DeVry

I want to be able to help students more effectively. If I can see their desktop and they can see mine, then it is easier to help in programming situations. I like webex, but it costs $. In PC Mag I saw this:

Well the first reason is gone – the blog isn’t teaching me anything about .NET anymore and wordpress et. al. have too many features to ignore. So [...]

reCaptcha.com – awesome

So you need to prevent spammers from posting to your site? I do that here with a captcha. But I only have one. So I was looking at http://www.recaptcha.com . It is awesome.
I downloaded the DLL for it, put it into the bin of my project, added it to my toolbox and entered my public [...]

Converting .OGG to .AVI etc

ffmpeg -sameq -i originalfile.ogv convertedfile.mpeg
I might find that line helpful if I am ever to convert an OGG file into an MPEG etc in the future using Linux and ffmpeg.
I got it from: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/08/07/flipping-the-linux-switch-zomg-ffmpeg/ .

Project Mojave?

I am not a Windows Vista hater, nor do I want to say I love it. You can see my recent exploits into Ubuntu in earlier posts. I love Linux. It is a great OS, but I would be happier if Vista was more widely adopted by enterprises.
So I like the following information. I [...]
