A friend and I were discussing family and kids tonight in a round about way and it brought up a point that I always like to keep in mind. What am I? People who know me might know me by a few things – usually what I am to them:

1. Professor (DeVry)
2. Teacher/Instructor (Sage)
3. CoWorker
4. Friend
5. Dad
6. Husband
7. Brother (like sister)
8. FreeMason
9. Christian
10. American

But I consider myself 3 things first and foremost in life. How did I arrive at these three things I asked myself if I wasnt one of the others would I still be this one?

1. Dad
2. Husband
3. FreeMason

So you ask – “How could he eliminate American or Christian”? Easy. if I wasnt an American would I still be a Father, Husband and FreeMason? Yes. Same for Christian, same for brother etc.

So does that mean I am not proud to be an American or Christian or brother? Not all all – it is just a perspective – mine.

BTW. If you have kids and you dont list them at the top – shame on you – there is nothing more important in the world.
