So Kristin has been doing rather well in school – all E+ and she has also being doing rather well at webkinz.com, but Carol and I wanted something more for her. She loves to excel and seems to want to learn anything she can, so we took the school and webkinz.com energy and turned it to the google web. I entered online elementary school and a variety of other search terms and ended up at http://www.time4learning.com
They have a 14 day trial and I checked out a few sample lessons. They are like games/skillsoft/netg/webex type learning. Kristin loves them. I realize that this would be dependant on the child, and we are not home schoolers by any means, but she loves it and she is getting her school learning enriched by this outstanding site.
$20 a month gets you complete access. It took a day to setup her account after I signed up and then she was in. They asked some simple questions up front to place her and she was off. She started with 80% in most of her first exercises and has yet to take an exam, but she loves doing it so far – who cares about the scores? it is the exposure that I was going for.
Carol and I talked about it and for about $240 a year they go up to 8th grade, so about $2000 for her total middle school learning is a great price. (you pay monthly and can cancel anytime or even suspend for a reduced price). You cant beat it.
The lessons are similar to what she is learning in school, but the format is completely different of course. Again we are not homeschooling, but rather supplementing and I don’t think I could have found a better site. It is just neat, cheap and seems very valuable!
