It occurred to me this night that my wife respects Masons. Just because who they are.

I deal with a lot of people in my professions as a instructor at a software firm and a University Professor and some people I deal have Masters Degrees, some have Bachelors, some have served in the armed forces and others are great parents. It takes time to learn these things and you might know someone has a Masters before you meet them or you might know their title includes a VP in it, but non of that demands respect.

I can think of a few things that demands respect immediately when I hear of it. The kind of respect where I would shake that persons hand and thank them for being who they are. It might be a POW like John McCain, but that is soo rare. The average person I meet would have to be a Mason to earn my immediate respect.

As I posted earlier as I sit here waiting on my 4 month old to fall into a solid sleep – there is no easier measure of a man. To say you are a Mason and prove it makes for an immediate friendship and respect. Why? well. for one you believe in God. 2. You take that belief seriously. 3. You have promised to act in a honorable manner. 4. I trust you.

So I have more friends (and thus readers) that arent masons. What does that mean to you – the non-Mason? Well if I respect you it was hard earned. If you want to challenge that respect you can ask me to be a Mason, but do not do so unless you are serious – you will find out the truth about my feelings of you.

So I think I am perfect right? Yep thats right. Because I am a Mason I am perfect.

Hmmm Far from it. But you can be assured in my case – because I am a Mason I am working on it. Feel free to point out my faults. They are many – but they arent growing in number.

I pray as a Mason and try my best to act as one on a daily basis. What is your Moral and Social plumb? If it is those around you then I ask you to look a little higher – please.
