I met Charlie Ward back in 1992 or so. He was in Minot, ND running a martial arts school like no other in the surrounding 5 states and 3 provinces. A school dedicated to the art, the students and an overall knowledge of the arts involved and I was lucky enough to be able to become a student. Over the next few years Chuck taught me and my fellow students some cool moves, self defense and a lot of pride and self confidence.

I left the school to go to Basic training and returned for a short bit when that was over. Chuck and I have remained friends over the years and still talk regularly. He was the one non-relative at my daughter funeral – that says a lot.

Well not only has Chuck had the chance to start a martial arts program at ASU for college credit – he wrote the class! He is also now a contributing author to an only martial arts rag:
