29Sep Every single day is an interview.
Each and every day is an interview. I have had this in mind for about 6 months now. I have had examples of this regularly and most recently I have realized this had been true for some time.
I am a member of azgroups.com. It’s a Microsoft .NET group for developers or IT professionals in AZ. They offer technical assistance, post jobs and even free training opportunities. If you are in AZ, SIGN UP.
Yesterday I received yet another job posting from the group. This time it was from Shane Bishop. Shane and I had attended DeVry together and I had the utmost respect for Shane. It turns out the feeling is mutual. My actions back then are affecting me today. I am glad I try and act in a professional manner as much as possible (but not always successful).
In the last training I attended I was lucky enough to run into Terry Ayers. Terry and I also attended DeVry together but we really didn’t know each other that well. I knew the name and had enough to do with Terry to realize that he was a stand up guy. Terry had emailed me two days ago telling me he was on the market.
Having the email from Shane and the information from Terry I was able to at least get them together. I didn’t realize it, but they also had great respect for each other and Terry actually equated Shane and I on some levels. That’s a compliment to me.
My wife had the same perception. She thought Shane and I were a lot alike. I got along great with Shane and Carol remembers him well. I am glad to see that people I knew and respected at DeVry share the same feeling about me and are doing well in what they are engaged in.
That being said, I knew some guys at DeVry that I know didn’t respect me. In fact, I don’t think they respected too many people. I had thought they were all right until the lack of respect became apparent. From what I can remember they were a group of 2 or 3 that always stuck together. They were shorter than average and a little on the skinny side. One was younger than the other. Well I hope they are doing well nonetheless but I would like to remember who they were and Google them at least.
You can find Shane and myself on the web easily. I haven’t found Terry yet.
