Well the doctors were wrong.

In february I had posted:

And we were so excited. Well early in March Carol was told that the baby was not viable. She was told there was actually no baby, and she should quickly go in for a DNC. We were really being tested. Carol was rather upset and went in for more blood tests. The doctor called and spoke to me an was sure she said to me: “I am convinced I am just trying to convince you”. Well we werent convinced and we talked and figured to wait.

Our spirits did drop. How could the doctors be wrong? They couldnt. We decided to wait for some time and then finally have the DNC. We were set on waiting. Carol decided that one more ultrasound would make her feel better so I called and scheduled it. It got rescheduled for later in the month and today we went in.

We explained to the tech (Dan) that we already knew it wasnt viable and we were her to make sure. He was quick to reasure us and make us feel confertable. Almost immediately he told Carol “I dont think you are going to leave here with the information you expected”. He turned the monitor and there was a heart beat!

The baby is 10 weeks tomorrow.

Please if you happen to see this and you are considering DNC because your doctor is sure that the baby isnt viable. Email me. I was just about told how unreasonable I was being for allowing my wife to have doubts.

Of course we are cautious from here on out, but the gift of life has been given. There is a heart beat (150-160 bpm) and there is a fetus (21 cm in length).
