15Mar Boating this weekend?
So my family and I decided to take the boat out this weekend to lake Pleasant, AZ. It was supposed to be a little windy, but nothing spectacular. When we got to the lake it was extremely windy and we knew after stepping out of the truck we werent going to be unloading the boat.
A little upset we marveled at just how windy it really was. Then we noticed other boaters coming back in. There was a small boat just about ready to load up when we headed over to the ramp to check it out. The driver was getting wet and each time he put the stern of the boat towards the ramp the boat took on water.
Sure enough he gave it too much gas and missed his launch and ended up here:
That wasnt the end of it. By this time there was about 20 guys standing around “helping” and many of them were from the Game and Fish Department.
The first boat was eye openning as it took on more and more water and sat on the side of the ramp. The next boat was just unecessarily sunk. We watched as the owner left his truck on the ramp (in the way of other vehicles) and didnt even attempt to remove his boat for some time. He was the last one out:
He finally got it out after letting it sink half way (it couldnt sink anymore since there is a pump and boyancy inserts). When he was loading it it lifted to its side and almost went over if it wasnt for the engine scraping along…
This was totally unecessary and he just needed to get it loaded – he was the first one there! I learned a valuable lesson!
